Last Saturday we held our first open day at Blackbridge Community and Sports Hub, along with our partners at Freedom Leisure. We were delighted to welcome in hundreds of people from Podsmead and across Gloucester to come and see the facilities and what’s on offer!
Our youth work team made fruit kebabs with young people and talked to those in school years 7-11 about the youth clubs we now run every week from the Blackbridge Community and Sports Hub. The table tennis table proved popular with all ages!

We had a mini football tournament out on the brand new 3G pitch, run with the help of coaches from Gloucester City Foundation and featuring local U8’s and U9’s teams from Rising Stars, Quedegeley Youth and Abbeymead Rovers who did a great job of showing the pitch in action. They all received a participation medal for their efforts! The Tuffley Rovers teams then enjoyed a match on between their teams on the pitch after the tournament.

There was an opportunity to try out the fitness gym and classes, as well as just having fun in the air conditioned studios with a view, which was bliss on a very hot day!

We also had free facepainting glitter from Pick a Face by Alicia, henna art from Rehana, and delicious food from The Nest in Gloucestershire which went down a treat!

It was also great to see people who were part of bringing the project to life including David from architects FWP, and Hattie and Erin from Mint + Mabel who designed the graphics and logos that have brought the Blackbridge Community and Sports Hub to life.

And here’s just a few more photos of a fantastic day! We hope everyone enjoyed it, and whether it’s for health and fitness, community get-togethers, or youth clubs and activities, we hope to see you at the Blackbridge Community and Sports Hub soon!
